CREATED BY GENERAL DE GAULLE, THE DISTINCTION OF THE NATIONAL ORDER OF MERIT HAS AS PURPOSE TO STRENGTHEN THE NATIONAL UNITY AND BRING AN ENERGY INTO THE 5th REPUBLIC AS OBJECTIVES: TO SHOW EXAMPLES, TO ENCOURAGE THE CITIZENS TO GIVE THE BEST OF THEMSELVES AND TO BE A GRATITUDE WITH THE LIFEBLOOD OF THE COUNTRY WHATEVER THE GENERATIONS, THE ORIGINS AND THE BUSINESS AREAS.
The Ceremony took place on November 07th, 2014, at the LYON’s Trade Center. It is with an immense enjoyment that Sylvie GUINARD received the National Order of Merit knight’s badges of Michel ATHIMON's hands, Managing Director of the Federation of the Mechanical engineering industry, who agreed to be her godfather.
Excerpt from the speech made by Michel ATHIMON :
This ceremony is the reward of your merits: will, courage, tenacity, enthusiasm, passion and of your commitment in the service of the French industry. […] You’re demanding with yourself and you know how to encourage the teamwork. Determined you know how to mobilize the energies to bring your projects to a successful conclusion. Respectful of your teams, you know that a company director needs those people who surround her. […] Your merit is to have applied, in your life, virtues which can be given in example. But exemplary does not necessarily mean extraordinary while the extraordinary could dissuade. Exemplary means leading its life in respect for the other one and in the republican spirit. […]
To quote Claude HAIGNERÉ as one of the people having influenced your life offers me the perfect transition to evoke the other person who influenced your life: Your grandfather Louis DOYEN whom I greet respectfully and to whom I pay a quite particular tribute for his industrial actions and who has been decorated with the National Order of Merit followed to the rank of Officer in 1981. […] In 2009, being successively Technical director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the company, you become Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer. All this period will be dedicated to give priority to the development of an economic culture, to the respect for deadlines and service to the customers, with a strong orientation towards the international market, while continuing to conceive and produce in France, resting on local talents (what is also remarkable) completing the company development and becoming a world leader.
You are a member of this new generation of business managers which France needs! Their skills…their passion…their imagination contribute to show the French industry such as it is: Innovative… modern… dynamic and carrier of growth for our country! […] to pass on is to reveal, to recognize and to develop the talents of the collaborators … To pass on a culture, values is to be exemplary in the daily behavior … To pass on is to share the desire to be the actor of his own life. «To live means to pass on" could be the slogan of the family Doyen. […]
Excerpt from the speech made by Sylvie GUINARD :
" I am extremely honored to receive this remarkable distinction which conveys, for me, magnificent values: not only freedom, equality and brotherhood, but also the respect for life, the sense of responsibility and honor, generosity, courage, good citizenship and the concern to pass on.. […]
This distinction has […] 3 vocations: to translate the dynamism of the company, to give example and recognize the diversity. [] this medal leads me here in front of you this evening, but I am sure that each of you, in a way has contributed to it. I enjoy this extraordinary moment to thank you all: friends, family, close relations, collaborators and partners. "
